Noon Thursday, April 2nd - 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 3rd
The Shack-a-thon is done to raise money to benefit Hilltop Rescue and Relief. Hilltop Rescue provides relief for those affected by natural disasters. The money we raise will help those affected by Hurricane Katrina. For more information, visit their website at www.hilltoprescue.org.
We build the shacks and live in them for 30 hours (2 - 4 people per shack). This means no showers, or any other luxuries. (You are allowed to go inside to use the bathroom and brush your teeth).
We will be on the Texas Tech campus at the corner of 19th & University Avenue. We will have a variety of groups from both Cross Campus and student groups from Texas Tech! This is going to be an amazing experience!
We build them out of cardboard and stuff! Every person involved needs to hit up local businesses, random people you know, that rich person down the block, whoever, for monetary donations, or supplies.
We go around and get sponsors to give money for each hour we live in our shacks. Ex: Relay for Life: the donor gives a certain amount for every lap that you walk. Or, even better, you can get a flat donation of any amount. Ex: $15, $20, $100, or more!
